Investment Policy Development

When developing an investment policy, Canterbury first gains a thorough understanding of the client's current policies and practices. We collect information on how the plan's assets are currently being managed and why. We review portfolio data, policies, relevant operating guidelines and we meet with staff and trustees. Next, Canterbury provides the client with an Asset Allocation Report that reviews the current situation, provides data and information about multiple asset classes and strategies, shows the risk/return characteristics of their current portfolio as well as alternative portfolios, and shows the likelihood of the current portfolio meeting spending and growth objectives. Finally, an existing investment policy is revised or a new policy is drafted that takes into account the findings of the Asset Allocation Report and the client's objectives.
